Cryptozoology and Philately
1912 visit(s)
Cryptozoology is about animals who have proved hard to find - near extinction, just discovered, or mythical. Nessie of course has to have a stamp (Maldives 1992). But the site also covers the Tasmanian Tiger - probably extinct, and the Mapinguari - Giant Sloth - well maybe not extinct.
Great fun and heaps of information.

Peoples Republic of China Stamps
1998 visit(s)
commercial site but one with a great navigation system in themes. Fourteen different themes are covered.
The featured stamp from a 1998 set is from the ceramics theme showing a double gourd vase from the Longquan kiln with a prunus green celadon glaze. This kiln in Zhejiang Province was most famous in the Song (960-1279) and Yuan (1271-1368) Dynasties. Being in SE China its products were much traded outside China, also being known from wrecks.
